Indeed he is (as Scotty), and it's bloody brilliant. Shiniest movie ever: they did a hell of a job with it. Granted, you spend most of it wanting to give Kirk a good kicking, but other people do the job plenty for you and he's clearly meant to be an obnoxious little twit.
