...Well, damn, London. Two car bombs discovered in the same day? You'd almost think we'd pissed somebody off recently, really.

I'm put in mind, somewhat, of one of the stories in Kate Adie's autobiography- Kate was one of the first groundbreaking female journalists and I think she was the first British female journalist to be sent to war zones, for those who don't know; her books called The Kindness Of Strangers and is made of a great deal of awesome. Anyway, she was working at the BBC when the IRA were bombing the tar out of London, and so of course the BBC studios were getting bomb warnings almost daily. It all got to the point where, when told to evacuate, the BBC staff would take a look at the weather outside. If it was nice and they fancied a break they'd evacuate; if it was cold and disgusting out they wouldn't bother and just took their chances. I know it's over-used as an expression, but I think that's somehow a very British way of responding to possibly-getting-bombed, really.
