Omg dead now. Sorry to all the people who were expecting me online tonight: chasing after Doctor Who happened. Limited success, but quite a lot of fun. Won't be online again until Sunday evening, sorry.

- Dear Mr Derek, Queen of all America: right now I really do think I love you. Plz to keep being this made of win?

- From [livejournal.com profile] nextian, recced by a few people by now: Whose Stories Are They? Go on, read it.

- I really, really want to tidy my bedroom. Terrifying, but true. (omg such a shithole. D: )

Bed now. Night, folks.

A plea:

Right, flist, I need your help. Especially the comicbook-geeky ones.

The essay I am now working on has to be in before 1pm on Monday, and I cannot all-nighter it as I also have an exam at 1pm on Monday. This is the essay question:

In his history of images, John Berger (1977) famously claimed that “men act, women appear”. Using 3-5 examples from any visual or multimodal genre, discuss whether this is (still) an accurate description of the different spectator roles of men and women.

Please could anyone provide me with some (Western) comic covers and any other recent images that either support or contradict the idea of women as passive/men as active? My own comic collection is rather limited, mostly to Marvel (X-Men and Runaways), so anything not from these would be fantastic. I need the year, artist, publisher and title.

And any other images not from comics would also be fantastic, please. Although I intend to support the idea that Berger's statement still holds true, I need some contradictory images as well.

Please manylots. <333

Am off down the Bay to do more French work, now. Whee.

So. I Milliconned (twice in two days. Jeebus.), I lied about cocking up the dates of Leicester open day, I caught six trains in one day, none of which were on time. I had four minutes to catch my connection from Birmingham Fucking New Street, people. God knows how I did it, I don't.

But I met up with a Charlotte and a Clare, for much glee and win. And I took a Saph round Cardiff yesterday, but that is a tale for another time. And now I am home from Leicester and safe, so this is me checking in.

And now this is me crashing for the night. Ohgod don't make me work tomorrow... *whimpers*

GAH. Boys -and one boy in particular- are gits.

In other news: too many... shops... brain... dead. I bought almost all of my Christmas pressies today, heh. Including my Christmas present to myself, an OMGSHINY watch from Swatch.

HobbyCraft told me last weekend that they're not extending my contract past January 8th. I don't much mind- one of the bosses is a dickhead, and the work is mind-numbingly, excruiating boring- so provided I can get a new job quickly all I'll miss will be my beloved co-worker Debby Darling (oh the looks we get from the customers when I call her 'darling' on the shop floor) and my staff discount. I need to keep myself in the manner to which I am now accustomed, or I'll be getting money withdrawal problems. Literally.
