Fic: Looking At The Stars
Fandoms: Marvel Cinematic Universe/DC comics (Batgirl)
Rating: PG
Words: 6374
Warnings: None.
Notes: Thanks to [personal profile] camwyn for all her help. <3 The title comes from the Oscar Wilde quote ‘We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.’
Summary: Phil Coulson doesn’t wake up in the same universe he died in. But he does at least find himself face-to-face with someone who’s had a similar experience... And she usually goes by ‘Batgirl’.

When he wakes up, Phil is a little surprised that nothing hurts, and a lot MORE surprised to be waking up at all. )

"You know," Natasha says thoughtfully, and sips her sixth tequila, "I might just screw all three of them and tell them they will be judged on performance. Then tell them afterwards it's best out of three."

Pepper passes her a new cocktail, because the wait between drinks currently feels like the saddest moments of her life all rolled into one. "If you do, no woman in the world would blame you. Not even the gay ones."

Natasha changes channels on their main CCTV feed (because Steve currently has his ass to the camera and it would be a crime - and not the fun kind - to miss that kind of entertainment), before accepting the drink. "Tell me about it."

I BLAME THIS:

Fic: Like A Nerve
Fandoms: Marvel Movieverse
Rating: NC-17
Words: 3217

Pairing: Bruce/Tony (because have you SEEN them?)
Notes: Yes, sometimes I write porn. For [personal profile] fightingthecage, for her birthday! <333 Beta-ed as ever by the very best of all possible [personal profile] alas_a_llamas.
Summary: For Bruce, staying calm has never been the secret.

Just as well, really...

Bruce has become accustomed, of late, to people asking him what his secret is - as if he has just one. )

Fandoms: Sherlock
Rating: PG
Words: 958
Warnings: None.
Pairing: Molly Hooper/awesome, Sherlock/John (if you squint)
Notes: Beta-ed by the awesome [personal profile] alas_a_llama.
Summary: Sherlock post-Reichenbach: there's more to death than falling.

Thirty-five minutes later, and he misses the view from the roof of St. Barts already. )

Fic: The Bodyguard
Fandoms: Sherlock/St Trinian's (and a couple more)
Rating: PG-13
Words: 7754
Warnings: None
Pairing: Molly Hooper/Annabelle Fritton
Podfic: Here by the lovely and amazing [personal profile] intransitive!
Notes: Some missing scenes from Downstairs, in Baker Street, my Sherlock crossoverama. As in that fic, there are a couple of extra canons in here for you to spot!
Summary: After Sherlock's fall, Molly doesn't quite understand why she has to have a bodyguard. But she turns out to be really quite glad she got Annabelle Fritton...

Annabelle Fritton, when she finally got there, turned out to be a far cry from the big butch woman Molly had been expecting: she was tall and slim as a model, with more lipstick than Molly had ever worn in her life and a tumble of brown curls worn unscientifically loose. )
trace_of_scarlet: (Donna = more awesome than you'll ever be)
Fic: I Shall Wear Fire (and be consumed)
Fandoms: Doctor Whoniverse
Characters: Martha Jones, Rose Tyler, Donna Noble
Rating: PG
Words: 1151
Notes: Beta-ed by the lovely [personal profile] alas_a_llama, who I mostly entirely don't hate. Title comes from this poem by my awesome friend [personal profile] apiphile.
Summary: Martha, Rose and Donna: being a companion and a soldier. The Doctor might be done with them, but they are not done with him yet.

And I'll find you another time; I'll love you another time // It's okay to be afraid // But it will never be the same. )

Fic: Reading Out Loud
Fandoms: Marvel Movieverse/Runaways (Marvel Comicsverse)
Characters: Molly 'Princess Powerful' Hayes, the Hulk
Rating: PG
Words: 636
Notes: Set in [community profile] milliways_bar, although you don't have to know the setting to understand the fic. Quotes are by JK Rowling and A.A. Milne, and if you can't tell which is which then I am really concerned.
Summary: Everyone needs a story when they're having a really bad day... Although sometimes it's more about having someone there to tell it to you.

There is a lull as Molly closes the book, as if she stood - or, well, sat - at the eye of the storm. )

Fic: Cardio-Pulmonary Respiration
Fandoms: Marvel Movieverse
Rating: PG-13
Words: 5789
Warnings: Possible triggers for semi-graphic violence.
Pairing: Bruce/Tony
Notes: Set some time post-Avengers! With techspeak from JJ and a crapload of beta-ing from the best Eric.
Summary: Bruce and Tony go undercover on a mission from SHIELD. It all works out very nearly as badly as Bruce tells them all it will... But, to be fair, there are certain compensations to getting the chance to play James Bond.

'So, let me get this straight.' Bruce pushes up his glasses and pinches the bridge of his nose, eyes closed, the way he gets at the end of a long day when the math stops working and Tony won't stop making smartass remarks. 'You want *me and Tony* to go undercover and find these terrorists? *Me?* Really?' )

Tourner le dos
Peggy wonders what she's doing here, looking at the man she gave up sixty years ago. There is something wrong, she thinks; she is old, and fragile, and remote -- but he is here, here, here, as immediate and mind-blowing as she knew him in life.

There is something wrong here, and she can be no part of it, no matter how much she wishes she could.

So she looks at the man in his plain grey suit, calm and grey as any man on bodyguard duty, as calm as any lover on watch, and shakes her head and walks away.

She walks away, and knows that finally she has found her Captain, as she should have done over sixty years ago.

And because she loves him, she walks away.

"Bruce." Molly is looking at him, eyes already glowing. "Does it hurt?"

"Uh." He struggles with words; with the Other Guy bubbling under his skin, his thoughts stutter and stop. "Every - every time."

"I'm sorry." The last thing he feels, before the Other Guy takes over, is her taking his hand.

Two
“Molly, I can’t -”

He looks up at her desperately, like he’s begging her to escape the bomb-blast (run, run away as fast as you can, you can’t catch me), and suddenly realisation hits her: she’s seen this before, at Xavier’s. Some emotions can’t be helped until they run their course; sometimes there’s nothing to do but absorb the pressure and fix things later.

“Bruce, if you can’t stop it, then let it happ-”

NO!

He’s only getting angrier, panicking, but she keeps talking. “I’m here, I’m here, nobody’s gonna get hurt, Bruce. It’s okay, I promise, but if you can’t fight it then don’t and we’ll deal with it, okay? It’s going to be okay.”

He still doesn’t believe her, or maybe can’t bear to believe her, but all he says is ‘please’, low and guttural and probably heart-breaking if she weren’t too busy trying not to freak out to pay attention to that kind of thing.

“I’m not going anywhere,” she says, and holds his flashing-green gaze. “It’s okay, Bruce.”

And it totally isn’t okay, not in any alternate universe, but either he can’t fight it any longer or he does let it happen, because suddenly bones crack and sinews and clothing tear like a long, painful lightning sizzle, and then it’s– him.

The Other Guy.

Molly stares up, and up, and does some hasty reconsideration of her previous ideas concerning what she’s going to continue thinking of as the Hulk, even though she knows Bruce hates that name. She’d said, once, that he and Bruce were not the same person, but the more she looks at the Hulk the more she can see Bruce. It’s like looking at a Bruce made out of plasticine: even his hair is different, but Bruce is still there, in the eyes and mouth and shape of the jaw. She’s not afraid, suddenly – she was never afraid of the Hulk himself (because Bruce isn’t scary, could never be scary) but although she’s worried about how upset Bruce will be when he comes back, she isn’t scared. They can fix it, she thinks, because he hasn’t tried to hit her yet, and somehow she doesn’t think he will.

“Hey, Big Guy,” she says, and smiles. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”

Three
She knows as soon as she hears him shout her name that their chances of getting through this without the Hulk as a guest star are basically shot, but she wouldn't let that stop her even if she knew that for certain.

On the plus side, at least it gives her an idea of his location; maybe she'll have to break the whole place apart to get to him, but she'll do it.

Which means that she can either try to keep him calm and make herself the target, or keep quiet and let him take his chances... And, well. Who is she trying to kid?

She was born to be the target, after all.

"I'm coming!" she yells, a promise to him and a threat to anyone in her way, and begins to run.

Children - James Bond/Harry Potter
"Need some help?" Bond enquired, but if she noticed the bite in his tones then she was ignoring it completely.

"Thank you, but no." She seemed entirely too composed for an elderly woman aware they were just minutes from a firefight, and he wondered again just where the hell M had dug this woman up from. "Luckily, it happens to be the school holidays at present. Certain of my pupils will be ... assisting."

"-- You're bringing children into this?"

"Of course not," she retorted, and for the first time he could hear real snap in her own voice. "They ceased to be children some time ago."

Target Practice - The Bourne Legacy
She wonders what would have happened to her, if she'd left him, if she'd done what he'd asked of her in that tiny sweaty hotel room in Manila. Maybe she'd have made it; she'd learnt enough from him that maybe she could have gone, flown like a bird and gotten away with it. Maybe she could be the warrior he said she was, if she had to be.

It doesn't matter, though. She's made her choice, made it long before she screamed his name and painted herself a target.

She chose him, and she doesn't regret a damn thing.

Characters: Martin Crieff, Douglas Richardson, Annabelle Fritton, Kelly Jones, Polly, the Posh Totty, Carolyn Knapp-Shappey, Arthur Shappey

Beta-ed by [livejournal.com profile] alas_a_llama, who is the best of leprechauns. I'd apologise for the pun in the title, but I'm really not sorry.
Summary: MJN take a party of school pupils for a markedly unusual flight to Turin. Douglas gets fleeced, Arthur gets adopted, Annabelle comes to the rescue, and Martin doesn’t have a bad day.

This, Martin Crieff realized rather belatedly, was definitely one of MJN’s more chaotically unusual flights, even accounting for the fact that MJN Air had never in its existence operated what any of the training manuals would consider a ‘usual’ flight... )
